Kristin Cashmore

Hello, I'm Kristin Cashmore, and I love, love, love photography! I began my photographic career 30 years ago on a whim — taking a job as a sales consultant for a high‑end photography studio. In that time, I learned everything I could about photography. I have been fortunate to work with many great photographers and I learned something from each and every one of them. Most importantly, I learned never to stop learning. I have studied and worked hard to receive the designation of Certified Professional Photographer from PPA (Professional Photographers of America). I also have been blessed to receive the designation of Master Photographer from PPA, an honor that is achieved only after many years of entering print competitions and studying with the best.

I started Bella Vie Studio in 2008. At that time, I was feeling a huge need to be at home more with my children as they were suddenly no longer toddlers who could be taken to Grandma's house for the day. Juggling homework and after‑school activities was becoming difficult with a full‑time job away from home. Yet I wasn't ready to hang up my cameras and call it a day. So I decided to start my own business to keep doing what I loved. It was both scary and exciting at the same time but it certainly was one of the best decisions I ever made. I found that I could approach photography MY way and create a truly custom experience for each client — something I couldn’t do working for someone else.

What I love most about being a photographer is that I get to capture life as it happens. We each have our own personalities and as a photographer, I get the privilege of capturing yours on film. Every child has their own personality, and as a photographer, I get the privilege of bringing that out and capturing it on film. My style is very relaxed and casual, and while I know I need to provide direction to my portrait sessions, I try to do so in a way that is very natural. I incorporate more of a story‑telling aspect to my sessions where I can let my subjects be themselves.

I live in Grayslake with a wonderful husband who is truly my best friend. We have two boys who are 22 and 20 as well as a beautiful 10‑year‑old daughter. She has brought an incredible amount of love and joy into our family, and as I watch my two older boys with their little sister, I am reminded of why I love what I do.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in having a portrait session done. I would love to talk to you about your ideas and help you to capture the moments of your Beautiful Life!
